The BIG Blues Revue
With four years under their belt as the BBR and professional relationships in the band spanning over more than three decades, this seven piece ensemble always delivers what a true blues fan is looking for.
Certainly a fitting tribute to the Blues Masters, all delivered with a refreshing air of their own personality and a growing catalog of powerful original material. Drawing on influence of traditional blues, as well as the early Motown era and 1970s soul/funk, the band's natural chemistry cooks into a HUGE sound and unique style that can only be described as "special".
Back to Kalamazoo...
Martila and the BBR hit the main stage at the District Square Summer Blues Series at 8:00 PM on Saturday August 1st. This inaugural year of the series has featured a tremendous line up of local, regional and National Artists, to include; Kalamazoo favorites, Crossroads Resurrection, OFB and Big Boss Blues Band to name a few, plus The Nick Moss Band and the BBR week will be followed by Canadian artist, Anthony Gomes. This series is a great feather in the cap of downtown Kalamazoo as well as a huge boost for the art.

Battle Creek Venue Defies National Stats and Survives the First Year!
In way of an encore performance of last summer's grand opening, Martila and the BBR will be hosting a special evening on the patio to wrap the first anniversary bash for WAREHOUSE in Battle Creek. The venue, located at 1299 E Columbia in Battle Creek, opened in early august of 2013 and just like many other venues, weathered some problems, to include finalizing a practical menu, a challenging room for sound and a waning climate in the area of LIVE entertainment. Nonetheless, they have ironed out some kinks and continue to fight the fight after a year in business. One thing unique about this venue is their desire to cross into all genres.
Next on The Agenda
The next project on the table for the BIG Blues Revue is two video singles, including the title track from our second CD, "The Rain Falls Anyway" and a new song TBA. The decision has now been narrowed to two new Michael Gee pieces, "Feel my Funky Blues", featuring Martila Sanders on Vocals and "it is What it Is" Featuring Drummer Jimi Tulk on vocals. We Hope to release the videos in early 2015.
